Shiatsu and Reiki are effective not only on humans but on animals too. Dogs, cats, horses and most pets can benefit from a treatment. Animals are usually very aware of their healing needs and they often "dictate" how they want their treatment to be.
Before I can give a Shiatsu treatment to an animal, your vet should know and agree to the animal receiving Shiatsu (this is a requirement of the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966). Although there is no legal obligation for a vet's agreement prior to Reiki treatments, you might want to inform your vet about it. Of course, if the animal is sick, it will have to be seen by a vet.
