Shiatsu is a Japanese
therapy based on Traditional Chinese Medicine. Literally it means
"finger pressure".
The idea underlying Shiatsu is that energy -known as Ki
in Japanese - flows in the body through a series of paths called
meridians. At times, for one reason or another, Ki
gets out of balance and stops moving smoothly. A dis-ease then appears.
It can be just a vague feeling of discomfort or a diagnosed illness.
The aim of a Shiatsu treatment is to rebalance the flow of energy so
that it flows smoothly again. As the flow of Ki in
the body improves, so does the condition. Shiatsu uses a variety of
techniques to rebalance your energy flow. Shiatsu is a therapy that
works on the individual as a complete being - on the physical as well
as on the emotional and mental level.
