Treatments are usually given on a padded mat (futon) at floor level, although it is also possible to have a treatment sitting on a chair, on a treatment couch, or even lying in bed in case of impaired mobility. You stay fully clothed during treatments.
Shiatsu
During a Shiatsu session, depending on your state of health, the
symptoms you are experiencing, your constitution and general energy
levels, a variety of techniques will be used to rebalance your energy
flow. These may include gentle holding, pressing with palms, thumbs,
fingers, elbows, knees or feet. If appropriate, more dynamic rotations
and stretches are used.
A medical
history will be taken during your first appointment. I will also ask
some questions about your health in general and life habits, in order
to get a picture of you according to Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Reiki
Reiki is given
by the therapist's hands being placed, with very slight pressure, on
different parts of the body, or at times slightly above it - when
direct touching is not appropriate: i.e. a physical wound or any place
you do not wish to be touched.
How will I feel?
Receiving Shiatsu or Reiki is generally a deeply relaxing experience.
Following a treatment, you may feel invigorated yet relaxed. Due to the
body releasing toxins and/or energy being unblocked some people may
experience stronger symptoms - such as tiredness, headache or slight
flu-like symptoms - during the day following the treatment.
What do I have to do?
When receiving a treatment, it is best to wear loose, warm, comfortable
clothes, preferably cotton.
If you are a woman, when coming for a Shiatsu treatment, please avoid
skirts or dresses as they can prevent some movements and stretches.
Please also avoid make-up since it prevents diagnosis based on skin
complexion.
Do not eat heavily in the two hours prior to treatment. But don't come
"starving" either!
After the treatment...
Drink plenty of water to smooth the flow of energy changes through your
body.
Avoid alcohol on the day of treatment.
If possible avoid strenuous or stressful activities after your session.

where you live. An extra fee may be charged to cover traveling
time and costs.
Evening and weekend appointments
are available.
Distant Reiki treatments are available by donation.
